Centenary Davila´s Group
Last September 2016 the Davila Group, to which Altius belongs, celebrated it first centenary in the city that saw it born, Vigo.
The commemoration took place at the Marina Davila Restaurant, on Saturday, September 16, during a dinner that was presided over by the current president of the Group, Eduardo Davila. 450 people attended to the event of all its headquarters in Spain (Algeciras, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Sevilla, Marin and Vigo) and the directors of all its headquarters in the world, will serve to pay tribute to the leaders and teams that have preceded them in time and their current collaborators.
The origins of Davila’s group go back to the year 1917, with the foundation, in Vigo, of its holding company, Joaquín Davila y Cía, a company that focuses its activities on the representation of “tramp” vessel owners, project cargo and regular line , freight, customs agents, transits, air and land freight and integral logistics.
Termavi was created in 1993, Marine terminals of Vigo, a firm that handles the container traffic management tasks of the Port of Vigo.
Another milestone in the history of Davila’s Group is the founding, in 1999, of the Altius freight forwarding company, which will expand its services to the field of integral logistics to assist the Foreign Trade sector and which specializes in the transport of large structures through sea.
Currently, Altius has offices in 10 countries spread across America and Europe.
The Group also has other companies specialized in its sector that complete its offer, such as Yacht Consultancy, specialized in yacht and chartering services; Marina Davila Sport, which offers the customer an integral service in the field of nautical sports, and Marina Davila Restaurant, which stands out for its proposal of haute cuisine.
It also has its own port facilities, such as those of Termavi, in the container terminal of Vigo, and the ones from DART company (Davila Reefer Terminal), a firm of the Group founded in 2002 and which has refrigeration facilities in the port of Marin.
Today, Davila’s Group is integrated for more than 500 employees, 21 companies distributed in 10 countries around the world. The great growth experienced in recent decades has not prevented the group from maintaining it family spirit and the values with which it was founded a century ago.
